The IPMI is a great tool that will help you in administering and managing your dedicated server, it allows you to remotely reboot your server at anytime, or to launch a remote KVM console session if you ever need to - this feature is particularly useful if you have mistakenly chaged your sever settings and no longer have access via your regular means of connecting.
