It is important to remember that software packages update frequently, and because of that we always recommend that as part of your regular server Administration you regularly run the YUM command. YUM will automatically download and install any available updates for the software packages that are running in your CentOS operating system, including programs such as: Ruby, Python, PHP, Perl, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and more.
